"Pack die Badehose ein, nimm dein kleines Schwesterlein, und dann nichts wie raus zum Wannsee..."

So, here is my little account of Barbara's visit...

Well, we had a two pretty busy days, actually. With wonderfully sunny weather, Nate showed her around the city a little bit while I worked, then they picked me up at my office and we took off for a little sightseeing tour towards the Charlottenburger Schloss with its big park (from which we had a beautiful view onto the castle), and then our future neigborhood, within walking distance from the Schloss. There, we also had ice cream - after four little three-year-olds in front of us had finally decided which kind they liked. Very cute :) One of them actually had "Kastanieneis", which sounds weird, but which also seemed to be enjoyed by the little girl. We weren't that adventurous, though...

We then went to a UEFA Cup soccer game at the Olympiastadion, the place where the World Cup Finals was carried out this past summer. Unfortunately, Hertha only tied this little Danish team they played and will now have to win the away game. However, we enjoyed watching the hard-core fans and listening to their chants, though we also realized that even a soccer stadium is being used as a place for "posing", as Barbara calls it. Incredible, how some girls (and guys) get dressed up just for a sports event...

Afterwards, we enjoyed a rather long walk through Tiergarten, along the Straße des 17. Juni and to the Brandenburger Tor at night.

And then the next day we went swimming at the famous Wannsee (yes, there is even a song about it!), and played a game of outdoor chess (the kind with the huge pieces you have to drag...). Very enjoyable, all of it :)
